Player Code of Conduct
Referee abuse WILL NOT be tolerated in this league. Violators will be suspended and repeat offenders will be suspended indefinitely.
- Referees are only required to have on-ice discussions with those players designated Captain or Alternate Captain. Any other player attempting to have a discussion with a referee is at risk of being given an Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalty. (Referee discretion)
- Players, coaches, trainers and managers yelling or swearing at referees from the bench will result in a bench minor penalty. (Referee discretion) NO REFEREE AT ANY LEVEL OF ORGANIZED HOCKEY HAS EVER CHANGED A CALL BECAUSE OF A PLAYER/ COACH PROTEST!
- Players yelling or swearing at referees on the ice will be assessed an Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalty. If the player continues, he will be assessed a 10 min misconduct (followed by a game misconduct, followed by a gross misconduct). Depending on the nature of what is said. The orders of these penalties are at the discretion of the referee. A game misconduct assessed under this violation and may carry a minimum 1 game suspension for abuse of an official, for more extreme or repeat situations the league commissioner will review and make a decision on the penalty under the Hockey Canada guidelines and with the guidance of Hockey Alberta rules.
- Players using racial slurs or verbally provoking further incidents may be assessed a Gross Misconduct and a 2 game suspension. And reviewed by League
- After each game teams will shake hands, unless the officials of the game decide other wise.
- Hockey Canada Min Suspensions will be enforced, the RHL may increase any of the suspensions as they see fit for the league.
- Players will not in any way gesture, motion, or engage with any fans. A player who is penalized for any of these violations, will have an indefinite RHL suspension until notice is given to team managers.
